FAQ & Guidance

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our landscaping & exteriors service.

How much does fence installation cost?

Fence prices depend on the length and height of the fence, the type of panels or boards, the posts and how they are set, removal of any old fencing, the ground conditions and access to the garden.

Do you remove old fences and garden waste?

Old fencing, decking and garden waste can be removed as part of the job, or collected separately through our house and garden clearance service.

Do I need permission for a new fence or decking?

In England, fences up to 2 metres high (or 1 metre next to a road) and decking no more than 30 centimetres off the ground are usually permitted development. Listed buildings, conservation areas and some estates have extra rules, so check with your local planning authority if you are unsure.

Should I choose timber or composite decking?

Timber is usually cheaper upfront, while composite needs less maintenance over time. The right choice depends on your budget, the look you want and how the area will be used.
